Abuse of Power in Academia: Forms, Causes, Proposed Solutions (in German)

Online
Description: Various forms of power abuse—some of considerable severity—occur within academic institutions: bullying, exploitation, sexual harassment, data and authorship manipulation, as well as misuse and waste of public funds. Awareness of these issues has been growing significantly in recent years. Professor Leising will outline key concepts relevant to the theoretical discourse. He will then analyze how patterns of systematic abuse of power can emerge and persist over long periods within academic institutions. Based on this analysis, Professor Leising will present promising structural-level countermeasures and identify the institutions responsible for implementing them.
