This lecture offers an essential introduction to cluster computing at Goethe-NHR & Fuchs, spack package manager and the SLURM workload manager. Key topics include:
- Cluster Basics: Understanding cluster architecture and access methods.
- Hardware and Software: Overview of hardware components and software configurations.
- Spack: Installing scientific software with spack package manager.
- SLURM Overview: Introduction to SLURM’s role in job scheduling and resource management.
- Practical SLURM Examples
Participants will acquire fundamental knowledge and practical skills in using cluster computing, spack and SLURM effectively.
Location: This course will be held in a hybrid format via zoom and on-site. It takes place on Campus Riedberg of Goethe University Frankfurt in Otto-Stern-Zentrum, room S1. Please register if you would like to participate.
