The Department of Old Testament and Biblical Archaeology at the Protestant Theological Faculty has a few ossuaries and an extensive collection of Palestinian ceramics, which was donated by various private individuals. Alongside the collection of largely complete ceramic vessels, the collection includes diagnostic pottery excavated from Ḫirbet El-Mšāš el-Milḥ. Given today’s restrictions on exporting Israeli ceramics, the Mainz collection allows German students and emerging scholars to gain practical, hands-on experience with this material as part of their studies.
