The Ethnographic Collection of the Department of Anthropology and African Studies cares for about 2,800 ethnographic objects, mainly from Central and West Africa, but also from Australia, Papua New Guinea and other parts of Oceania. This diverse collection was built up from 1948 onwards by Erika Sulzmann. It includes household items, textiles, jewelry, weapons, musical instruments and sacred artifacts.
