Rhein-Main Universitäten (RMU)

The Working Group on the Collection of Rare German Prints (AG SDD), established in 1989, is a cooperative consortium of six German libraries with exceptional historical collections. The group was founded with the aim of systematically acquiring publications not previously available in Germany, cataloging them, and making them available on a supraregional basis. The collection mandate is divided chronologically by historical periods, with the University Library of Frankfurt am Main overseeing the SDD period from 1801 to 1870. For all libraries participating in the SDD, the focus is on works published in the German-speaking world or outside it in the German language, as well as works related to Germany („Germanica“), regardless of format and content. The resulting thematic diversity ensures a collection of rare items that goes beyond the familiar canon and holds high value as historical sources.
