Coordinated appointments to professorships at the three RMU universities represent an effective means of strengthening synergies between disciplines. For many years, appointments have been supported on a reciprocal, case-by-case basis. Since 2021, several instruments have also been piloted and tested to strategically coordinate appointment procedures across the three universities. 

In this context, opportunities for coordinated appointments are identified, and RMU co-affiliations have been introduced as a straightforward mechanism to promote collaboration between academic departments. In addition, the three universities have established the role of an RMU member on appointment committees. This strengthens both research and teaching within the RMU area and creates simple pathways for integration into a wide range of academic communities.
