Archive of Fritz Bauer Institute

  • Humanities and Social Sciences

Since the Fritz Bauer Institute was founded in 1995, the archive has been responsible for storing and managing documents that have been created in the course of the institute's work and have lasting historical value, regardless of their medium. It also accepts written material from state and private institutions on topics and research areas of interest to the Institute and collects the pre-death legacy and bequests of important figures in contemporary history and scholars associated with the Institute. The archive continuously supplements these holdings with extensive acquisitions and transfers in the areas of images, film, sound, dependent publications, and press from before and after 1945. The documents are continuously cataloged and descriptions of selected holdings are made available to the interested public via the Institute's website and the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI) portal. The documents in the archive are available to everyone within the framework of the archive's terms of use. In addition, the Fritz Bauer Institute's archive provides information on contemporary historical topics and advises researchers on the holdings of other public archives.
