Edda Collection

  • Humanities and Social Sciences

The Edda Collection documents how Norse myths (often labeled “Germanic myths”) have been taken up in a wide variety of contexts since the Middle Ages and used for very different purposes—almost worldwide. The material, much of which is still unexplored, is used in the research activities of the institute's staff and their international and interdisciplinary network and is also used extensively in teaching. In addition, its clarity makes it very suitable for communicating findings to a broad public, as documented by a series of press articles and exhibition projects.
