The Goethe University Literature Archive has been in development since 2011 as a collaboration between the Department of Modern Languages and the University Archive. It manages collections from authors, institutions, and publishers based in Frankfurt or working in Frankfurt, and makes these available to the academic community and the city's residents. To varying degrees, the archive has worked with sources from the following origins (in chronological order since the start of the collaboration):
Frankfurt Poetry Lectures, Eva Demski, Verlag der Autoren/Autorenstiftung, Walter Boehlich, Dario Fo/Peter O. Chotjewitz, Frankfurt liest ein Buch e.V., Burgel Zeeh, Schöffling & Co., Stroemfeld/Roter Stern, F. K. Waechter, Horst Bingel, Arno Lustiger, Eichborn Verlag, Helmut Scheffel, Berger Bücherstube/Stadtschreiber Bergen-Enkheim, Marcel Reich-Ranicki.
The cataloguing is carried out jointly with the donors, researchers, or students. The holdings are open to the public in the exhibition space “Fenster zur Stadt” (Braubachstraße 18-22). Between 2012 and 2014, the literary archive showed installations on Thomas Meinecke, Silvia Tennenbaum, Alexander Kluge, Ror Wolf, F.K. Waechter, Michael Lentz, K.D. Wolff, Siegfried Kracauer, Juli Zeh, Horst Bingel, Terézia Mora, Eckhard Henscheid, Eva Demski, and Daniel Kehlmann; and also at the German National Library on Burgel Zeeh.
