Rock art details. Photo: Jozefina Kontic
The collection of rock art copies is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world and has undergone a significant transformation in its importance over the past few decades, shifting from scientific documentation to a collection of works of art. In addition to researching the history of the images' origins, the collection also examines their reception and impact during the first half of the 20th century. The emphasis is on the aesthetic quality of rock art worldwide, aiming to reach a broad national and international audience through publications and especially exhibitions.
As a service to both researchers and the public, the collection processes inquiries, operates and maintains an online image database, provides digital images for publications, manages loan requests, and welcomes individuals or groups for guided visits.
