Introduction to data visualisation with Python

RMU Event

Date

3 November 2025, 2:15 pm – 3:45 pm CET

Location

Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, 01 235 (K102) Hör-/Lehrsaal

Description

Data visualisations are a powerful heuristic tool. They allow us to discover complex relationships in huge amounts of data and are used in science, business, politics and society. They can enrich discourse, support a narrative, be beautiful, but also mislead and deceive. Their benefits and dangers therefore require a critical and self-reflective understanding.
The course will examine theoretical and practical aspects of data visualisation in more detail. An insight into current approaches will be combined with an introduction to specific Python packages. At the end of the course, students will examine and visualise a data set of their choice with their own research question.

Please note: The event takes place weekly in person.
