This event is part of the RMU Postdoc Career Weeks 2026
The German academic system is complex and not always easy to understand, especially for academics from abroad. In need of explanation are particularly the federal structure, the typo-logy of universities and research institutions and also the various options for funding research projects.
This seminar provides a compact overview of the German academic system and offers the opportunity to ask individual questions. It is primarily aimed at international postdocs, but is also open to all other interested persons.

Speaker:
Dr. Helene Schruff is head of the “Organizational Development and Consulting” department at the General Administration of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaften e.V. in Munich. She studied and completed her promotion at the University of Bonn and then became Head of Division at the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft in Bonn. This was followed by a position as a science manager at the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, a subject on which she also gives a number of seminars, including for the DHV.
Target group: Early Career Researchers (R1, R2, R3) from TU Darmstadt, JGU Mainz and GU Frankfurt.
