Academic work is exciting, but it often requires a lot of initiative and is more of a marathon than a sprint. That is why you may frequently feel overwhelmed or frustrated. This is normal, but it can affect both your work and your personal life.
In this workshop, you will learn to recognize and deal with the most common psychological challenges in the context of academic work. What does effective time management look like? How do I deal with perfectionism? How can I maintain my well-being, even when work takes up a lot of my resources?

Learning objectives:
In this workshop, you will learn about stressors in academic work and explore strategies for addressing and overcoming common challenges.
Trainer:
Friedemann Abel is a psychologist and works at the university’s Mental Health Services (PBS). There, he supports JGU students in dealing with challenges related to their studies, academic work, and personal lives. He is also in training to become a psychological psychotherapist and leads workshops on various mental health topics at JGU, Bingen University of Applied Sciences, and other institutions.
Target group: Early Career Researchers (R1, R2, R3) from TU Darmstadt, JGU Mainz and GU Frankfurt.
