Device Name
Elexsys E580 X/Q-band
Device Variants
X-/Q-band EPR Spectrometer

Device Description

1 kW X-band TWTA; 150 W Q-band TWTA and 10 W semiconductor amplifier; 2 kW RF amplifier; Flexline probes: MD5, MD4-ENDOR, MS3 for X-band and QD2-ENDOR, QT2 and a self-built ENDOR probe head for Q-band; bridge with ELDOR source, AWG and MPFU channels; Oxford cryostat for liquid helium cooling.

Device Application

Applications of X-/Q-band EPR include the characterization of complex biological systems involving hyperfine structures (ENDOR/ESSEM/ELDOR-detected NMR) and pulsed dipole EPR experiments (PELDOR/SIFTER/DQC/RIDME). The spectrometer can also be operated with shaped pulses. In addition, an optical fiber can be inserted directly into the sample head and coupled to a laser. This enables the measurement of light-induced CW and pulsed experiments. The system can be used for both liquid and solid-state EPR.
