Description
Active participation and interaction significantly enhance memory retention, interest, and conscious engagement with a topic.
It is easier to encourage interaction in smaller groups, but how can one engage larger groups—especially in a virtual setting? This course explores how to facilitate interaction and dialogue even in larger groups, thereby moving away from a lecture-style approach to content delivery.
Workshop Objectives:
- Exploring the questions: Engagement - Why and when?
- Classifying different engagement strategies based on specific objectives
- Sharing and learning about engagement methods
- Trying out and experiencing individual methods
Workshop Content:
- “Haptic” elements—nonverbal cues, cards, etc., even in virtual settings
- Use of the chat function
- Survey tools (e.g., Zoom, Mentimeter, Slido)
- Collaboration tools such as whiteboards (e.g., Etherpad, ConceptBoard)
- Quizzes
- Active content development (e.g., World Café)
