Description
Active recruitment has long been established as an effective tool for gender equality policy aimed at increasing the proportion of female professors as well as increasing the proportion if international scholars at German universities. But how can and should active recruitment be considered more broadly in the context of diversity- and equity-focused appointment procedures? Can active recruitment be used to reach out to qualified scholars from various underrepresented groups and be used to encourage them to apply?
In addition to an introduction to the concept of active recruitment and its various objectives, the workshop focuses on the planning and implementation of concrete strategies. We will provide insights into research strategies for identifying suitable candidates and discuss the benefits as well as the limitations of the idea. It will be discussed how potential applicants can be actively approached. Different possibilities and methods for establishing contact will be presented and discussed by participants. This also raises the question of how to not only reach potential candidates, but also spark their interest in applying and encourage them to do so.
Target audience: The workshop is intended for everyone involved in planning, conducting, or further developing professorial recruitment and appointment procedures who is interested in strengthening equal opportunities through diversity-sensitive practices.
Participant limit: Participation is limited to 20 persons. Preference will be given to members of the Rhine Main Universities.
