RMU Winter Series 2026: A Second Look: Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Professorial Recruitment and Appointment
November 2026 through January 2027
What makes a successful professorial recruitment and appointment process? Equity, diversity, inclusion, and academic excellence go hand in hand: Fair, transparent, and bias-aware procedures help ensure that the full range of candidates’ qualifications and potential is recognised and considered. What insights from research and higher education practice can contribute to achieving this goal?
The RMU winter series „A Second Look“ provides insights for all those involved in shaping and supporting professorial recruitment and appointment processes. Lectures and workshops introduce key concepts, present current research findings and international perspectives, and offer practical approaches for gender- and diversity-sensitive appointment procedures.
The event series is open to all members of the Rhine-Main Universities (RMU)—students, academics, as well as administrative and technical staff—and encourages active engagement with a topic that concerns us all. Guests and interested individuals from other universities and institutions are also welcome to attend the lectures.
The RMU Winter Series is organized by the Gender Equality Office of TU Darmstadt, the Equality and Diversity Office at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and the Equal Opportunities Office at Goethe University Frankfurt.
